Budget 2021: Supporting creative problem solving and innovation

In the Budget 2021, Deputy Prime Minister DPM Heng Swee Keat mentioned that innovation will be a key economic driver for Singapore's economic recovery from the pandemic. To improve Singapore's economy and support businesses in bringing more creative solutions to market, the Government will be leveraging several key platforms to enhance enterprise innovation, including the Corporate Venture Launchpad, the Open Innovation Platform (OIP), and the Global Innovation Alliance (GIA).

BCA has worked closely with IMDA to leverage the OIP to source for ideas and solutions to meet the Built Environment (BE) sector's needs. Recent examples include the development of solutions to enable safe re-opening of work sites, in which the solution providers TraceSafe, TagBox and Nervotec had participated in. The firms had developed real-time systems that helped contractors to conduct contact tracing and health monitoring of their workers on-site, facilitated by project partners such as Kajima and Boustead Projects.

We look forward to more fruitful and exciting collaborations with IMDA and the innovation community!
