Drones and Building Façades - What do they have in common?

Image from The Straits Times

Under the Periodic Façade Inspection (PFI) regime announced by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) in Oct 2021, façade checks will have to be carried out every 7 years for structures that are over 13m in height and more than 20 years old (with the exception of landed residential homes and temporary buildings). Such checks are typically performed manually with the help of gondola or boom lifts, which can be time-consuming and risky.

An open innovation call was jointly launched by BCA and HDB (with the support of EnterpriseSG and NRF) to source for drone inspection systems, to provide building owners and façade inspectors with new solutions that are safer, more efficient and more cost-effective. Find out more about the developed solutions over at the Open Innovation Network (OIN)!
